Consultancy & Courses

I am available for visits to Primary Schools in person or online to discuss and/or model practices in teaching English language learners. Personnel involved could be Management team, Leader of languages/ESOL support, class teachers, teaching assistants.

Some examples of consultancy available include:

  • Supporting a school review of communications, approaches and strategies for teaching English language learners
  • Designing a languages/ESOL teaching programme for a teacher, team or school
  • Supporting languages/ESOL teachers to increase their focus on the oral language output of their English language learners
  • Using the English Language Learning Progressions (and Pathway) and working with staff to build knowledge and use of this MoE document
  • Working with school teams to plan languages support linked to the school curriculum delivery across a term/year
  • Discussing and modelling ways of working with non-fiction text to build English language learners’ confidence, engagement and comprehension while explicitly teaching the language features of written English
  • Discussing and modelling ways of working with fiction text to build English language learners’ love of the ‘rhythm and flow’ of language while teaching the language features of the English language
